Introduction

Babson College, which was established in 1919, offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business-related fields, as well as executive education programs for organizations. Its MBA program has been ranked first in entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report for more than a decade.

Accreditation

Since 1950, Babson has been accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Founded in 1885, this commission is the oldest regional accrediting association in the country and acts as the regional accreditation agency for colleges and universities in the six New England states. Babson College has achieved reaffirmation of accreditation of its bachelor’s/master’s degree programs in business administration by recent action of the board of directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Academics

Babson’s fast-track MBA program combines e-learning with face to face instruction, as students spend 18 to 22 hours each week on course work delivered through distance learning and are required to attend sessions once every six weeks at a location in Wellesley, Mass., or San Francisco.

Admission

Those who want to enroll in Babson’s online MBA program will need to complete the online application before the specified deadline. Programs begin twice a year either in January or September, and students will need to make sure that they apply well in advance to enroll in their desired semester. Babson is very selective in graduate admissions, with only about 315 students accepted out of about 650 applicants.

Tuition and Financial Aid

According to Babson’s 2012-13 tuition rates, the school’s fast-track MBA program costs approximately $76,100, which works out to $1654.34 per credit hour for 46 credits. Financial aid is available to all Babson students as well as need- and merit-based programs, and supplemental financing options. Students can submit a FAFSA application to determine whether or not they are eligible to receive federal aid. Other students may be eligible for company sponsored or employer tuition reimbursement programs. Approximately one-half of full-time MBA students receive some type of financial aid, according to Babson’s website.
