Introduction

Albertus Magnus College, founded by the Dominican sisters of Saint Mary of the Springs in 1924, is dedicated to providing students with a practical application of an education designed to seek out truth in all its aspects and dimensions. The college’s heritage is Catholic but incorporates Judeo-Christian traditions in its approach to educating and preparing students to deal with the changes that arise in a business world and the challenges of changing ethics. Albertus Magnus College’s philosophy originates from the intellectual tradition of the Dominican Order, which focuses primarily on the search for truth.
The Dominican Sisters of Saint Mary of the Springs (now known as the Dominican Sisters of Peace) purchased an estate in Connecticut in 1924 to start a women’s college. The first classes at Albertus Magnus College were held in the fall the next year. Since then, the size of the campus and enrollment has grown significantly; today, approximately 2,200 students are enrolled each year.
